April was National Poetry Month. 4th grade has already learned the elements of poetry and had practiced it for the STAAR test. We were eager to learn how to write our own. We learned about different poets and types of poems. We were able to spend a month investigating poetry and poets. We created many of our own poems to add to our personal poetry collection. Each child then was able at the end of the month to go through poetry books in the classroom and choose two of their favorite poems to recite to the class in our Poetry Cafe. We took a week to enjoy our Poetry Cafe. We had a few students each day. The students were able to dress up for this presentation. After the student shared their poems, they shared their favorite snack and drink with the class. We had visitors: 3rd grade, Mr. McBroom,Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Macias and Mrs. Barnum.
In 4th grade, we study Texas History. We were excited to get to the Texas Revolution part. Each student had about three weeks to construct a 3D Alamo. They had to be creative and use what they had at home. This project required family help. These Alamos are truly amazing. Each one did a great job!
